Patrick Bérubé

The practice of Patrick Bérubé is mainly in sculpture, installation and public intervention. He’s interested to the contradictory reports, whether emotional, physical or carnal, that
the Man maintain with himself and his environment. How the Man has rooted the entire
conception of his existence on its uniqueness, systematizing and reducing it to its
size, so as to make it more perceptible and to forget the immeasurability of its
scale and strength.

In these times of crisis, his works address political and societal issues through
different notions of memory, anticipation, repetition, transformation and mutation.
They try to demonstrate our fragility and our vulnerability to the inevitable...
Although it is question of cycles and perpetual movements, it is especially
paralysis and immobility in the face of the excesses of the world that it is about!

Patrick Bérubé obtained a Master’s degree in Visual and Media Arts from the
Université du Québec à Montréal in 2005. A finalist for the Pierre Ayot Prize
twice, his work has been noticed both nationally and internationally through his
participation in numerous exhibitions. and major events, notably in New York,
Berlin, London and Luxembourg. He also has several residencies as an artist
residency, including at the Quebec residency in Barcelona (Spain), the Cité
internationale des arts in Paris (France) and Buy-Sellf in Bordeaux (France). An
active member of the Clark Art Center and Dissemination, he has also produced
several architectural integration works (1%).
