Amélie Laurence Fortin

Amélie Laurence Fortin lives and works between Québec and Warsaw (Poland). Through her installations, sculptures and sound works, she creates futuristic narratives in which objects bear witness to past or future actions. Her latest projects are an opportunity to question current technological upheavals through a radical, monumental and performative formal approach. 

A selection of her recent exhibitions includes OBORO (Montreal), Tallinn Art Hall (Tallin, Estonia), Fonderie Darling (Montreal), BWA Wrocław (Wrocław, Poland), Festival Mois Multi (Montreal), Stroboskop (Warsaw, Poland), KIKK Festival (Namur, Belgium), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin, Germany), Alfa Gallery (New York, United States), Manif d’art 9 (Québec), as well as several local and international fairs. In 2020, Fortin was selected for a one-year residency at Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin). She did other residencies, amongst others: the Radio28 CS residency (Mexico, Mexico), the Arctic Circle residency (Svalbard, Norway) and Avatar (Québec). She was shortlisted for the Prix Videre (2020). Her work has been reviewed in BerlinArtLink, BE Magazine, BLOK Magazine, EFSYN Magazine, Esse arts + opinions, ESPACE art actuel and Magazyn Szum, amongst others. Fortin completed a Master’s degree in Visual Arts at Université Laval (Québec) in 2011.
