CLARK is happy to present works beyond the walls of its galleries and to support VIVA! Art Action by co-presenting two artists of its 8th edition.

Mai Bach Ngoc Nguyen — Performance september 13, 8pm.
Diyar Mayil — Cuisine VIVA! — From september 13-16, 6pm-8pm.

VIVA! Art Action is an international biennial that provides the public with a convivial context in which to encounter performance art in its most striking and avant-garde forms. Free and open to everyone, VIVA!’s artistic programming showcases practices from here and abroad that stand out for their singularity and rigour. The event happens at 429 ave. Viger E., Sept. 13-16.
An essential element of the festival, the VIVA! kitchen allows an artist to develop a daily relational work during meals offered to the festival community. At the heart of every evening’s programming, these performance dinners play a key role in creating the convivial, festive atmosphere that characterizes VIVA! This year, artist Diyar Mayil explores the theme of giving through actions and recipes as delicious as they are unique.

As part of the regular programming of the festival, Mai Bach-Ngoc Nguyen will present a performance on Wednesday, September 13, after 8pm. Mai Bach-Ngoc Nguyen is a 1.75-generation, multidisciplinary Vietnamese artist who has dropped the "Thi" from her name. Originally from a small village in central Vietnam, she grew up in Montreal and studied at Cégep de Limoilou and then at Université Laval in Visual Arts, in Quebec City. Through installation, performance and documentation, her projects revolve around accumulated poetic gestures and moving objects that, when put in relation, test the limits of her body and her colonial surroundings.
