Claude Périard

Claude Périard is a multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal whose work focuses primarily on sound art, music, and poetry. With a bachelor’s degree in electroacoustic composition from Université de Montréal, they have released numerous albums of songs under the pseudonym Claude l’Anthrope, as well as albums of experimental music, sound installations, video works, performances, poetry publications, and short stories. Their first poetry book, Les lumières ont tué la nuit, was published by Poètes de brousse in september 2025.

The recipient of several grants and awards for their varied artistic work, they are also a queer figure in Montreal’s underground scene and work as a sound technician. Their works have been presented in several artist-run centres and festivals such as FIMAV, FIVAC (Cuba), Codes d’accès, Queer City Cinema (Never Apart), Phénomena, Maison de la culture Maisonneuve, Akousma, Pop Montréal, Filles-troniques, Suoni Per il Popolo, Centre culturel Georges-Vanier, Eastern Bloc, Centre Daimon, Centre Perte de Signal, Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma, Rencontres Internationales du documentaire de Montréal, MEM Centre des mémoires montréalaises, Festival Les Percéides, and at Radio-Canada, and was nominated at the Gala de la Musique Indépendante du Québec in 2013 and 2022.

Their experimental music albums have been released on the labels Jeunesse Cosmique, Kohlenstoff Records, Archive Officielle, Small Scale Music, Microklimat, and Rara Avis.
