Maddie McNeely

Working in sculpture and installation, Maddie McNeely explores how the objects we live with, the materials we source, and the spaces we occupy impact individual and collective well-being. Working with wood as a primary material, she is interested in forests as a site of both deep ecology and industry. She uses material gestures of replication, transformation, and repetition as modalities to digest, re-interpret and articulate.

She holds a BFA from NSCAD University and an MFA from Concordia University. She recently participated in residencies with Est-Nord-Est (Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, QC) and Centre Materia (Québec, QC) and exhibited work with Patel Brown, artch, Projet Casa (Montreal, QC) and Pumice Raft (Toronto, ON). She splits her time between Montréal and the Eastern Townships.
