Olga Abeleva

Olga Abeleva is based between Montreal and Frankfurt am Main. She studied with Monika Baer at Städelschule, Elizabeth McIntosh at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and Mark Lammert at Universität der Kunst. Her practice moves irreverently through different media, mining telenovella themes of power, money and desire as readymades for content. Every encounter is viewed through a theatrical framework, questioning the politics of viewing through the triangulation of audience, actor and director. Recent exhibitions include Sous la Jupe de la Tour Eiffel at GROTTO Gallery, Berlin, and Desire Paths at Unit 17, Vancouver. She has an upcoming residency at puntWG, Amsterdam.
