Amed Aroche

Amed Aroche is a Cuban-born independent artist and curator based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. Trained in architecture and holding a master’s degree in social sciences, he develops a practice that combines research, photography, installation, and writing. His work focuses on the construction of contemporary images and their critical interrogation, exploring the intersections between political and poetic language from a diasporic perspective. As an artist, his work has been presented in Havana (Cuba), Montreal, and Vienna (Austria). In his curatorial practice, Aroche aims to reflect on how curatorial approaches can create space for the emergence of alternative forms of collective knowledge. For him, curating is an act of resistance—a means to make visible, to challenge censorship, and to reinvest public space.
