David Arseneau

David Arseneau lives and works in Sackville, New Brunswick. He works in painting, often within the genre of horror, merging a compulsive interest in outsider art practices with the amateur hobbyist or folklore artist. A recluse by nature, his creative output is geared toward honouring the obsessive process of creation itself in order to escape into new ideas and fantasies about the world, or to retreat from the broader world in favour of creating new realities through fiction. He has been making soundtracks for imaginary horror movies since 2013, releasing them on cassette in incredibly limited editions. Walker Road and the Creature from Hell marks his eighteenth soundtrack, and is the first to include an overt narrative thread that emerges from the inclusion of dialogue and Foley sounds. All sounds, including voices, have been made by the artist, with the exception of excerpts from The Last Man on Earth (1964) and Tales of Tomorrow (1952). It is literally a horror movie without images.
