Lester Alvarez
Lester Alvarez lives and works in Madrid (Spain). A visual artist, editor, and cultural practitioner, he graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana (Cuba) and holds a master’s degree in Film and Audiovisual Archives from Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (Spain). His multidisciplinary practice focuses on collective creation and cultural resistance. He is the founder of La Maleza, a publishing project dedicated to amplifying marginalized artistic voices, and has contributed to initiatives such as the video series SIN349, which critiques Cuba’s Decree 349. His work has been exhibited across Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Canada. A co-founder of the collective Forma Foco, he currently directs the cultural program at Librería Arenales in Madrid, with a strong emphasis on Hispanic American literature.
