Sarah Chouinard-Poirier
Sarah Chouinard-Poirier is a Tiotia:ke/Mooning/Montreal-based artist who approaches performance, film, digital art and writing in a transdisciplinary way. They create performative scenarios—sometimes collaborative—rooted in self-narrative and oral history, revealing the links between gender, class, work and somatic manifestations. Their work, centered on empowerment and the valorization of the experiences, ideas and knowledge of the people and communities concerned, has been hosted by several artist-run centres in Quebec, including Caravansérail, VU Photo, Galerie R3, Ada X, Regart, Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, OFFTA, TOPO, VIVA! Art Action, Sporobole, Le Lobe, Studio 303, Centre CLARK, as well as several festivals and artist-run spaces.
Chouinard-Poirier is also a front-line counsellor, organizer and trainer in harm reduction.
