Production/distribution exchange with La Galerie Graff (Montréal)

At the meeting of the artists participating in the exhibition *Les Bricolos* (May 1998), Madeleine Forcier—director of Galerie Graff—proposed a unique collaborative project: production assistance and an artist residency bringing together the Ateliers Graff and the Atelier Clark, supported by a benefit exhibition for all parties involved, including the artists. Since then, there has been a constant back-and-forth, phone calls, and adjustments between the two production sites and their respective teams to bring you this “multimedia” project featuring “traditional” techniques (composites, engraving, and woodworking).

Come out in large numbers to discover these limited-edition works, on sale for $400 each.

MARTIN BOISSEAU

“Between seeing and understanding, things get worse.”

SYLVAIN BOUTHILLETTE

“Imagine nothing, think of nothing, meditate on nothing, and do nothing.”

THOMAS CORRIVEAU

“The circles float across his face like pebbles abandoned in space. They are constantly drawn to one another and constantly drifting apart.”

SYLVIE LALIBERTÉ

“This is the first time I’ve worked with wood. It takes a very long time. You have to carve and think about trees. So my work is about mice—those animals that live in trees.”

ÉRIC LAMONTAGNE

“Here is an incubator for insectoid humans that lies halfway between painting and sculpture—and is therefore closer to our three-dimensional reality. I attempted to control the screen-printing technique in an uncontrolled way to move from the impersonal to the personal.”

MONIQUE MONGEAU

“wood block / flesh, rose-sepia / subject, four nails / Eros, Clark-Graff / escape from the studio.”
