Andréanne Abbodanza-Bergeron
Breakaways is the catalog produced to document the exhibition of the same title at the Stewart Hall Art Gallery from September 9 to October 22, 2023. Combining her interests in architecture and the environment, Andréanne Abbondanza-Bergeron has created an immersive installation made from industrial material that fills the entire exhibition space, which she presents alongside a recent photographic series on water and its elusive quality. The architectural installation embodies the movement of a fast-flowing current of water, a deluge.
In this catalog, the photographs from the exhibition are accompanied by a sensitive text by the artist, who discusses her sources of inspiration, and by a curatorial text by Manel Benchabane, who reflects on what the artist’s installation embodies both visually and conceptually.
Andréanne Abbondanza-Bergeron obtained her bachelor in Fine Arts in 2007 and her Masters in Sculpture and Installation in 2016 at Concordia University. Her work tackles one’s relationship to their social and urban surroundings, often through means of site-specific installation, and tangible experiences occurring in the moment of encounter with the artwork. Abbondanza-Bergeron’s works have been exhibited in solo and curated group show in various Canadian cities and abroad.
