ORGAN MOOD | INTERCEPTIONS
Organ Mood does not care too much about genres or disciplines. We explore the music scene by creating happenings and visual light installations in venues, but also perform our shows in galleries and artist run centers. The collection of recordings gathered here under the name Interceptions is for us the occasion to pursue this experimentation, by unveiling different musical improvisations as they actually happened before getting formatted for the scene or an album. Like the archive documents relating the events as they occured in a performance, these recorded pieces have the ambiguous ambition of demonstrating moments of creation as they occured during our practices or rituals, while we were ourselves looking for our rythms and radiances.
Organ Mood
Improvisations, immersion and mysticism is what Montreal’s duo Organ Mood is all about. Mathieu Jacques’ projections are geometric and organic light images support Christophe’s hypnotic and joyfull music. The combination drowns the public in contemplation, inspiring great projects for humanity.
The sound and projections of Organ mood are influenced by the structure of the electric and electronic hardware they use. A drum machine, a synth and a sequencer support the howlings of Christophe’s improvisations on the Farfisa Organ. The results reminds the elegance of Jean-Michel Jarre, the melodies of kraftwerk and somehow, the minimalist of Delia Gonzales & Gavin Russom. These sounds find their echo in the overhead projections that Mathieu Jacques composes live with layers of colofull acetates with silkscreen prints. What Mathieu scratches and draws on the acetates reminds Norman McLaren as much as Paper Rad. Together they perform rituals: long immersive experiences that places the listener at the center of the creation.
Rituals
Rituals are special events where the public can immerse itself the space crated by Organ Mood. Participants are greeted and slowly moved into the audio and visual improvisations of the duo. Guided by these rythms and radiances, an optimist vision of their forces emerge, instilling in the public the confidence to pursue utopian projects.
