ARTIST TALK IN PERSON /
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30, 3 PM

ISOLATION Studies 1 to 4 are outgrowths of the installation 500hz - 245hz - 500hzø - 246hz.

TRACK 1 - Isolation study 1 15:00 min
TRACK 2 - Isolation study 2 15:00 min
TRACK 3 - Isolation study 3 15:00 min
TRACK 4 - Isolation study 4 15:00 min

Developed over the course of 2016 and 2017, the installation consists of a sound exchange between two speakers positioned face-to-face, and uses a frequency of 500 hertz as a starting point.

Group A (left speaker)
1. Sine wave, 500hz
2. Sine wave, 245hz

Group B (right speaker)
1. Sine wave, 500hzø
2. Sine wave, 246hz

Information is simultaneously sent and received from/by two emitters/receivers, creating a conversation fueled by non-stop information. Group A and group B communicate and influence each other based on the distance between their frequencies and the noise within their communication.

Initial juxtaposition 1, IJ.1 245hz and 500hz
Initial juxtaposition 2, IJ.2 500hzø and 246hz
Primary communications 1, PC.1 500hz to 500hzø - 500hzø to 500hz
Primary communications 2, PC.2 245hz to 246hz - 246hz to 245hz
Secondary communications 1, SC.1 245hz to 500hzø - 500hzø to 245hz
Secondary communications 2, SC.2 500hz to 246hz - 246hz to 500hz

ISOLATION Studies are the result of experiments using only audio from the installation as a sound source. Sound waves have been modified in amplitude, frequency shifted, and, in some cases, multiplied with the help of certain effects and send channel routings. No additional sounds have been used and any kind of editing (copy, cut, paste, stretch) has been avoided.
