The streets of Saint-Henri, which Harry Symons walks every day, provide him with all kinds of material and give him plenty to think about.

“I am what I want to buy”
“You are what you’ve thrown away”
“We are what we let fall into disrepair”

In response to these reflections on our material culture, Harry composes his paintings by juxtaposing images drawn from this “four-color” ideal world—the ceaseless stream of flyers abandoned on our doorsteps. He sets these images in relief against the facades of warehouses, factories, and “unpacked” packaging left exposed to the elements. This imagery of deterioration also appears on display cases in imaginary stores, offering us new experiences in the world of consumerism.
