Chuck Sands presents an installation which makes reference to an ambiguous sense of space, one which plays with our perception of the border between interior and exterior. The ambiguity seems to stem from an uneasy confrontation between two different atmospheres: one reminiscent of the secure and quiet environment of a living room, the other of an imaginary or mythical wooded area. The strangeness is in part created by the way the chosen materials interfere with their content or representation. lt almost appears as though the original materials used in the creation of forms were to come alive so as to turn this interior space into a room which is truly living. In short this installation is apt to offer us the opportunity to experience both a curious and fun reinterpretation of the every day space of the living room.
