Suzanne Grisé
PAINTING
09.27–10.14.1990

Suzanne Grisé’s paintings are the result of an exploration of “the singular energy that emerges between matter and emotion.” It is defined by gesture, line, movement, background, form, color, and the medium—all of which converge and unite to produce a unique impression: a tactile visual emotion. The form that emerges is the animal body, always the same, in its absolute essence with its specific weight. We do not know where it comes from or where it is going. Isolated, it is noble. It establishes a silent communication, a threat of danger, the possibility of rebellion—feelings that reflect the cruelty of freedom.
