“We’re Here” is an analog photography activity hosted by Centre CLARK in collaboration with Project STAY at Head and Hands. It introduces Montreal’s Black youth to the city’s contemporary art scene and gives participants the opportunity to develop artistic skills and explore themes of mental health. With guidance from CLARK artist member, Eve Tagny, participants were tasked with taking photos using disposable cameras that inspire joy – a selection of which is now featured at Centre CLARK until October 16.

STAY at Head & Hands is a multi-year arts-based youth-centered project. Through its four components, Storytelling, Training, Advocacy, and Youth Drop In, the STAY project hopes to provide activities that will improve the mental health of youth.

Head & Hands provides medical, legal and social services to Montreal youth. Their services include free weekly drop-in medical clinics, legal information and consultations, counselling, a young parents’ program, youth drop-in, tutoring, street workers, and the Sense Project peer-based sex ed in high schools.

Centre CLARK’s 2021 cultural mediation program, which includes this project, is supported by Ubisoft, Business/Arts, and Canadian Heritage.
