COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

The Centre d’art et de diffusion CLARK is an artist-run centre dedicated to the production and the presentation of contemporary art. CLARK has many entities, both physical and virtual, each with its own function. The two main components of the Centre are its gallery, comprising two exhibition spaces where over ten exhibitions are presented each year, as well as special projects, and the Atelier CLARK, a cabinetmaking and woodworking workshop supporting the artistic community. The Centre also houses a Poste audio, where five sound works are broadcasted each year, the Librairie CLARK, which offers publication launches and readings, and a residency studio. CLARK produces several off-site projects, particularly in performance art, and collaborates with a wide range of cultural and community partners.

Reporting to the General Director, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating all communications activities, managing the Centre’s social media and communications platforms, promoting events and programming across all areas of the organization, and contributing to the visibility and outreach of the Centre in alignment with its mission and mandate.

The successful candidate will play an active role in developing the Centre’s communications tools and strategies in order to strengthen its presence within Montréal’s and Québec’s contemporary art communities. This position calls for a passionate, dynamic individual who is eager to expand the reach of the Centre’s various activities, including programming, Atelier CLARK, Librairie CLARK, cultural mediation, artist residencies, performance, and Poste audio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Develop and implement communications and promotional strategies for the Centre’s activities.
  • Plan and coordinate an annual communications calendar in collaboration with the staff responsible for the Centre’s various programs and departments (General Director, Programming and Residencies, Atelier CLARK, Librairie CLARK, Cultural Mediation, and Performance).
  • Create, update, and manage content across the Centre’s communications platforms, including the website, newsletter (Mailchimp), Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Manage the Centre’s website and social media accounts.
  • Maintain and update the Centre’s contact database.
  • Coordinate media relations and press communications.
  • Produce communications materials using documentation provided by the coordinators of the Centre’s various programs.
  • Prepare layouts for exhibition texts and gallery floor plans, and coordinate production with external suppliers.
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee the Centre’s visual identity.
  • Update and maintain the Centre’s press review and media coverage archive.

PROFILE

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working in an artist-run centre, non-profit arts organization, or community organization (an asset).
  • Strong knowledge of the contemporary art milieu and close ties with artists and arts organizations.
  • Familiarity with Québec contemporary art and the artist-run centre network (an asset).
  • Experience in communications management.
  • Excellent written and spoken French and English.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Strategic thinking and long-term vision.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Permanent part-time position.
  • Salary according to the Centre’s salary scale ($22.13–$25.00/hour), based on experience and qualifications.
  • Flexible schedule: 16 hours per week, on-site, Tuesday through Friday (schedule to be determined upon hiring). Evening and weekend availability required for special events.
  • Start date: between Tuesday, September 1 and Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
  • Workplace: 5455 De Gaspé Avenue, Suite 114, Montréal, Québec.
