OPEN CALL FOR INDIGENOUS ARTIST OR CURATOR RESIDENCY
The Centre CLARK and the Indigenous Curatorial Collective/Collectif des commissaires autochtones (IC/CA) are pleased to partner to offer an opportunity for a studio residency at the Centre CLARK during Winter 2020 (January-March) to an Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) artist or curator based on the territory known as Quebec. This residency will allow the chosen candidate to work on a corpus of artwork and/or to do research related to their artistic/curatorial practice. The artist/curator will therefore have exclusive access to an individual studio space, in addition to having access to the Atelier CLARK (woodworking and carpentry workshop) if they so desires, both located in the same building than the Centre CLARK. The chosen candidate will benefit from Centre CLARK and IC/CA resources, contacts and support to ensure that the artist/curator can accomplish their own research goals set for the residency. A public presentation will be organized in the studio near the end of the residency.
Support
Each residence is accompanied by:
– $3000 research fee
– $2250 per diems
Travel, accommodation and studio rental expenses are covered for the duration of the residency.
Proposals must include (pdf document):
– A brief project description (500 words max.)
– CV
– Visual (max. 10 images) and textual documentation of your previous artistic/curatorial projects
Deadline to submit a proposal: November 01, 2020
Dates of the residency: January 8th to March 30, 2021
Application materials can be submitted by email to: [email protected]
*The three-month duration of the residency is contingent upon receiving adequate funds. In the event of a lack of funding, CLARK and IC/CA are still committed to offering a one-month residency.
The Indigenous Curatorial Collective/Collectif des commissaires autochtones (IC/CA) is an Indigenous run and led non-profit organization that aims to support and connect fellow Indigenous curators, artists, writers, academics, and professionals through various methods of gathering. The IC/CA engages in critical discourses, increases professional opportunities for our members, develops programming, and most importantly works to build reciprocal relationships with Indigenous curators, artists, communities and the institutions we engage with.
