BREAK ! (PERFORMANCE)

Centre Clark

As part of the exhibition Bonne fortune by Guillaume Adjutor Provost, a performance by Sarah Chouinard-Poirier will be presented at CLARK on Thursday March 24, at 7pm.

Sarah Chouinard-Poirier is a performance artist working closely with cultural and community-based initiatives in Montreal. She elaborates her performances by arranging contextual actions, mixing presence, gesture, speech and object, to compose an image as sensitive as it is radical, to create her own feminist and resistant mythology. Her recent work focuses on the body, spoken action, dreams, empathetic phenomena, utopias, power and systems of oppression. She is also interested in the reappropriation of narratives by people and communities.

Between theater and action art, Sarah Chouinard-Poirier’s practice also extends in collective projects surrounding interdisciplinary theater. These projects seek to explore the concept of performativity and are based on contemporary or classical repertoire texts. She also coordinates Volte 21, an organisation she cofounded dedicated to multidisciplinary artistic creation.
