MONTRÉAL ~ HABANA 2019

Carl Trahan, Le sens de ces mots (bilingual pencils), 2005

Centre CLARK is proud to present works by Carl Trahan at the Centro de Desarollo de las Artes Visuales (CDAV), with the support of the Consejo nacional de las Artes Plasticas. Carl Trahan’s work is featured in a group exhibition curated by Gretel Medina, Lillebit Fradaga and Cristina Figueroa presented as part of the MONTRÉAL ~ HABANA : RENCONTRES EN ART ACTUEL/ENCUENTROS DE ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO project. The exhibition also includes works by Adam Basanta, Maria Ezcurra, Renée Lavaillante, Estela López, Helena Martin Franco and Victoria Stanton.

Carl Trahan presents two works in which he examines translation through a conceptual approach. He focuses on the difficulty of transposing the precise meaning of a word from one language to another, underlining not only the limits of this process, but also the possible semantic shifts that can occur in interlinguistic and intercultural communication.
