TOO MUCH FUN, NOT ENOUGH CASH
You’re just a few clicks away from making an extremely kind gesture. We thank you in advance.
TOO MUCH FUN, NOT ENOUGH CASH is our way of introducing you to the spirit of CLARK through real stories. We’re passionate about our work in artist-run culture, and we share that passion with you in each of our projects, through the artists we present, and at every opening, event, and artist talk.
Your donation is a symbol of this shared passion.

Times are tough, but at CLARK we like to remember those moments when we had TOO MUCH FUN, but NOT ENOUGH CASH.
As we all know, 2020 has been a tough year. In these uncertain times, the staff at CLARK likes to remember all the openings, events, and the many special moments we’ve shared with you. We really hope to see you all again soon. In the meantime, we still have TOO MUCH FUN and NOT ENOUGH CASH.
Every three weeks until December 16, CLARK will tell you a story. These anecdotes remind us of all the funny moments we’ve had over the years working with artists and our community.
HELP US TO STAY THE COURSE!
Story #1
Like the time Manon saw a ghost.
It happened during her first week of work at CLARK. One night, while closing the gallery alone, she saw a shadow move across the wall. A human-like presence seemed to lurk behind her. It was pitch dark. Every light was off. It couldn’t be her own shadow. But she sensed that the presence was gentle and welcoming. A kind of bienvenue from the beyond. The moment remains a mystery to this day.
TOO MUCH FUN, NOT ENOUGH CASH, because there’s no budget line item for “paranormal investigation.”
Story #2
Like the time Nadège spilled a gallon of bubble-gum pink paint all over the grey carpet in the entrance.
We like helping artists by giving them leftover paint and materials from our exhibitions. But maybe handing them these things at the end of a boozy opening isn’t the idea!
TOO MUCH FUN, NOT ENOUGH CASH, so we can mop up our messes!
Story #3
Like the time CLARK was squeezed out of its building by a mob goon.
Circa 1999. CLARK was still located downtown. Its members were in a meeting with their new landlord. Rumour had it that he was Tony Accurso’s right hand man. Black shirt, shades, and 300 pounds of muscle. This guy was scary. As a precaution, we had a hidden microphone record our lease termination meeting.
TOO MUCH FUN, NOT ENOUGH CASH, because we can survive anything! Even the real estate mafia…
